With the wave sexual assault and human trafficing cases being brought forth in the past decade, there has been increasing awareness of these issues in the public eye. While no one wants individuals guilty of these types of charges to go free, not everyone accused is guilty. In some cases with multiple charges, individuals can be found guilty of certain offenses but not others. This is particularly true in the case of Sean “Diddy” Combs with the controversy and charges resulting from his freak-off sex parties. In this case, the prosecution charged Diddy with racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Due to his experience as a former prosecutor, David Di Pietro was brought onto talk with Judge Liz to discuss the Diddy case, as well as likely sentencing outcomes. As a former judge presiding over the high profile case involving the Parkland school shooter, Judge Liz has extensive qualifications to discuss these types of cases on her channel. David was asked what his opinion was on the case, specifically regarding Diddy being found not guilty of racketeering (RICO) and sex trafficking.

He stated he was not surprised by this outcome, indicating that “RICO is not freak-off”, referring to the name given to these types of parties. He believes that the prosecution overplayed their hand and overcharged Diddy in this case, which may have backfired on them. He indicated that sentencing for the two counts of transporting to engage in prostitution will be dependent on the culture within the court system itself. David explained that the Southern District Court of New York typically follows prosecution guidelines for sentencing so he believes it will most likely be the 46-57 months the prosecutors are recommending.
